Oakland County Probate Judge Elizabeth Pezzetti and Friend of the Court Referee Betty Lowenthal were saluted by scores of well-wishers Nov. 16 during a gala gathering at the Iroquois Club in Bloomfield Hills. Pictured at the event are (left to right) Oakland County Probate Court Chief Judge Judge Linda Hallmark: Lowenthal and Pezzetti: and attorneys Keri Middleditch and Elizabeth Luckenbach, who are members of the committee that organized the retirement event. Longtime friends and colleagues, Pezzetti and Lowenthal have worked in concert since 2001 and vowed to retire together when the time arrived. Pezzetti, a former attorney with Dickinson Wright, was appointed to the Probate Court in 2001 and twice served as chief judge. Along with Hallmark, among those offering remarks in Pezzetti’s honor were Dickinson Wright attorney Ed Pappas, a past president of the State Bar of Michigan; her son, Thomas Pezzetti Jr., an attorney in Traverse City; and three of her grandchildren, Megan Pezzetti and Isabella and Lizzy Cook. Lowenthal, who spent years as a family law attorney before joining the Oakland County FOC, was honored by four well-known members of the legal community — Donald McGinnis, a past president of the Oakland County Bar Association; former state Supreme Court Justice Maura Corrigan; attorney Colleen Ronayne and her husband, Tom Ryan, a past president of the State Bar.
