FLINT (AP) — A judge says he won’t freeze an order that calls for home delivery of water if Flint residents don’t have a properly working filter.
The state of Michigan asked federal Judge David Lawson to suspend his Nov. 10 injunction while it appeals. But Lawson said last Friday that the state’s arguments are simply a “rehash” of previous arguments and “unfaithful to the record.”
The state says Flint residents already can get free deliveries, but the judge says it’s not totally effective. He wants the state to ensure that filters are working properly.
All Flint residents are urged to use bottled water or filtered tap water. Corrosive water from the Flint River wasn’t treated properly for 18 months, releasing lead from old pipes.
Separately, experts reported that water quality is improving.
