WMU-Cooley Law School emphasizes honor code in new student orientation

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Western Michigan University-Thomas M. Cooley Law School’s Grand Rapids campus held an orientation and new student convocation for first-year law students on Jan. 4.  In cooperation with the State Bar of Michigan (SBM), each incoming class participates in the orientation.

During the program, Tracey Brame, WMU-Cooley Law School assistant dean , poke to the law school’s new students about professionalism while practicing law and had students recite the SBM’s honor code.

“You may not be able to control the events around you, but you are in control of who you are and the strength and character that you will bring to the profession,” said Brame. “Think about what you want to contribute to society; what problem you want to solve, and then go forward with determination to gain the skill to do it.”
