Michigan International Lawyer seeks content for winter 2017


Michigan International Lawyer, which is published three times per year by the International Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, is seeking articles for its winter 2017 edition. The publication is Michigan’s leading international law journal. Wayne State University Law School hosts Michigan International Lawyer’s staff.

Michigan International Lawyer invites unsolicited manuscripts in all areas of international interest. An author is encouraged to submit a brief biography and a photograph for publication. An article, including footnotes, should contain between 1,000 and 3,000 words. Articles can be submitted for consideration in hard copy or electronic format. Manuscripts and photographs cannot be returned unless accompanied by a $5 check or money order made payable to Wayne State University Law School for shipping and handling.

Michigan International Lawyer will consider articles by law school students and may publish student articles as part of a regular column. A student should submit the article either through a law school faculty member or with a law school faculty member’s recommendation.

 The deadline for submission is Wednesday, Feb. 1.

Attorney named to Detroit Jewish News and the Well’s ‘36 Under 36’ List
 

Attorney Jonathan H. Schwartz has been named to the Detroit Jewish News and The Well’s inaugural “36 Under 36” class. The “36 Under 36” designation honors professionals, entrepreneurs, business owners, and philanthropists who are making an impact on those around them, and the community at large. Nominations were reviewed by a panel of independent judges prominent in the Jewish community.

Schwartz was selected for his leadership roles on the boards of numerous Jewish community organizations, including: The Jewish Bar Association of Michigan, NEXTGen Detroit, the Anti-Defamation League, and the Jewish Community Relations Council/American Jewish Committee (JCRC/AJC). In addition, Jonathan was recognized for founding NEXTGen Detroit’s interfaith couples affinity group, co-chairing the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit’s first-ever interfaith couples’ mission to Israel with his wife Stacy, and co-founding NEXTGen Pride, an affinity group for LGBTQ young professionals and their allies.

Schwartz is a member of Foster Swift’s litigation practice group, and specializes in representing companies and individuals in business, complex commercial, employment, real estate and entertainment matters. He also assists clients with contract drafting, negotiations and deal making and all aspects of risk management, governance and operation.
