Ann Arbor based law firm Conlin, McKenney & Philbrick, PC celebrates its 80th year in Ann Arbor this year. The firm, located at 350 South Main Street, Suite 400, in Ann Arbor, was established in 1937 by Edward F. Conlin, John W. Conlin and Albert Parker, became Conlin, McKenney & Philbrick, PC in 1982, and today has a team of 25 lawyers. Eight of its former partners have served in the judiciary, including current Washtenaw County Judges Timothy Connors, David Swartz, and Richard Conlin.
Many of the firm’s attorneys have received their peers’ highest recognition in publications such as Martindale Hubbell, Best Lawyers in America, and Michigan Super Lawyers. Conlin McKenney & Philbrick litigators practice in all Michigan state and federal courts, representing individuals, businesses, and governmental entities in a wide variety of complex litigation.
The firm’s transactional attorneys serve large and small businesses and specialize in tax law and tax appeals, banking and bankruptcy law, corporate governance, probate and estate planning, real estate and land use law, labor and employment law, and environmental law.
In 2016 Conlin, McKenney & Philbrick was again named to the highest “Leadership Level” of the State Bar of Michigan’s Pro Bono Circle of Excellence, which recognizes firms that have contributed their time and money to Access to Justice efforts for low-income individuals and families in Michigan.
The firm’s cumulative contributions over the years have put it in the “Founders Society” of the Access to Justice Fund. Its lawyers are also known for their leadership on numerous community organizations, serving on the boards of Washtenaw United Way, the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, the Ann Arbor Symphony, the Washtenaw Community College Foundation, the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Chamber of Commerce, the Washtenaw County Bar Association, and government Commissions, Boards, and Authorities.
Chris McKenney, a 55-year veteran of the firm who received the Bar Association’s Professionalism and Civility in the Practice of Law Award in 2008, attributes the firm’s long success to those same qualities in the firm’s lawyers and staff.
Firm President Allen Philbrick added that, without exception, the firm’s attorneys adhere to the highest ethical standards while helping their clients find the best possible outcome in matters entrusted to them. The firm looks forward with confidence that its current and future lawyers will maintain those high standards for the next 80 years and beyond.
