The sixth floor of the Macomb County Courthouse in Mt. Clemens will reopen for business on Sept. 11 following extensive renovations, according to court officials.
Most circuit court administrative functions will be relocating from the fifth to the sixth floor, according to a press release, including court adminstration, case evaluation, case management, speciality courts, the Information Services Department and the Research Department.
Judge Richard Caretti and Judge Jennifer Faunce also will be relocating to new courtrooms on the sixth floor.
Judge Rachel Rancilio will be moving into Caretti’s prior courtroom on the third floor.
In addition, the fifth floor jury room will be closing and newly renovated and expanded jury room will be opening Sept. 6 on the first floor of the courthouse.
Once these moves have been completed, the fifth floor and the south side of the first floor of the courthouse will close for renovations.
The court section of the Macomb County Clerk’s Office will be temporarily relocated on the third floor of the county courthouse.
People wishing to submit filings, view case files or pay filing fees must do so at that third floor location.
Once the first-floor renovations are complete, the court section will return to its permanent home on the first floor.
Court officials anticipate that the court section will exist at the temporary location until sometime early next year.
The move to the third floor is expected to begin Sept. 5, with operations there beginning on Sept. 11.
All other offices and services will remain open and available during the move.
