WMU-Cooley Law School awards Detroit Public Schools graduate with scholarship to help attend college

WMU-Cooley Law School’s Auburn Hills campus presented a check in the amount of $5,301 to Detroit Public School’s Osborn Preparatory High School graduate Robert Nettles. Nettles is this year’s recipient of the law school’s FUNDS scholarship – Financing the Undergraduate Needs of Detroit Scholars. The scholarship is administered by Detroit College Promise, a non-profit organization which is part of the Detroit Public Schools Foundation. The scholarship fills the gap for students for needs that are not usually included in other scholarships or financial aid, such as transportation, clothes, and food.

In May, the law school held its annual spring charity event, which raised funds for the scholarship that helps Detroit Public School students who would otherwise not be able to afford undergraduate school.  The scholarship is awarded each year to a graduate of a Detroit public school who has expressed an interest in attending law school after college.
