Governor Rick Snyder made the following statement on Wednesday, November 1, “Joan has served on the Michigan Supreme Court with great honor and distinction. While we are sad to see her leave the Court, I truly appreciate her dedicated work on the bench for the past two years and her devotion to upholding the rule of law. I’m proud that President Trump chose someone from Michigan to serve in this important role.”
Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Stephen J. Markman commented, “My colleagues and I congratulate Joan Larsen on her confirmation by the United States Senate to sit on the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Just as she did on the Michigan Supreme Court, we are confident that Joan will distinguish herself in this new position and ably and conscientiously carry out her judicial responsibilities.
“Joan’s presence on our court has been highlighted by cordial relationships and thoughtful legal discussion. While her colleagues will all miss her, we know that the bench and bar, and the public, will continue to have the benefit of her judicial experience and insights.”
