The Intellectual Property law firm of Brinks Gilson & Lione celebrated its 100th year in business with a reception for clients and friends in Chicago on Oct. 12. Brinks welcomed more than 200 guests, including corporate executives, general counsel and IP counsel, as well as colleagues in intellectual property legal practice and firm alumni. IP professionals came from the across the country, Canada, China, England and Japan. The firm, with offices in Ann Arbor, Chicago, Durham N.C., Indianapolis, Salt Lake City, Tampa, and Washington, D.C., was founded in Chicago in 1917 when Woodrow Wilson was president. The Ann Arbor office opened in 2001, and Steven L. Oberholtzer has served as managing shareholder there since shortly after that time. The office now has 27 staff members, including 15 attorneys and one patent agent. Office manager Kandi Lampkins has been with the Ann Arbor office since it opened.
