An “Access to Justice Forum” was held last month at the University of Michigan Law School featuring presentations and panel discussions highlighting the importance of the Legal Services Corporation and its national affiliates in providing services to those unable to afford legal assistance.
Dignitaries that attended included Congresswoman Debbie Dingell; Michigan Supreme Court Justice Bridget McCormack; Judge Victoria Roberts; MLaw Professor and former U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade; Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Margaret Chutich; Broderick Johnson, guest lecturer at the U of M Law School and partner with Bryan Cave LLP and former White House cabinet secretary; and numerous members of the Michigan Advocacy Program including Executive Director Robert Gillett, along with attorneys and staff from Legal Services programs around the state.
John Levi, LSC Board of Directors chairman, and James Sandman, LSC president, were named honorary co-captains for the Nov. 4 U of M football game against Minnesota by U of M football coach Jim Harbaugh, who serves on an LSC advisory panel.
