Warner Norcross now accepting applications for minority scholarships

Warner Norcross + Judd is accepting applications for two of its scholarship programs designed to assist minority students with legal studies: The Minority Scholarship Program and the LSAT Preparation Course Scholarship Program.

Now in its 18th year, the Minority Scholarship program annually provides monetary assistance to students to aid with the educational costs associated with earning a law or paralegal degree. Applications are due April 1; winners will be selected by the Grand Rapids Community Foundation.

In its 11th year, the LSAT Preparation Course Scholarship Program awards two minority students each with a scholarship to attend a 10-session Kaplan LSAT preparation course, which provides  a head-start on preparation for the Law School Admissions Test. Studies show those who take the course score higher on the LSAT.

Applications are due April 30.

“Scholarships fill a critical piece of the puzzle in ensuring students can pursue their education goals,” said Douglas A. Dozeman, managing partner. “Our firm is dedicated to helping increase representation of individuals of all backgrounds in the legal field, and this program gives us an opportunity to do just that.

“Through these scholarship programs, we hope to open a door to a challenging and fulfilling legal career for someone who may not have otherwise had an opportunity.”

Since it began offering scholarships in 2001, Warner Norcross has provided more than $180,000 to support programs that encourage minority students to pursue a law career. To date, the scholarships have assisted 86 students.
