The National Business Institute presented “IEPs and 504 Plans:?A Legal Compliance Guide” on Monday, Feb. 19, at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Hotel Southfield-Detroit. Among the faculty were (left to right) Washtenaw Association for Community Advocacy President/CEO Kathy Homan, who spoke on “Avoiding Common IEP Errors and Mistakes,” Jeff Ammons, of Dickinson Wright PLC, who spoke on “The IEP Meeting Process:?Legal Pitfalls to Avoid.” Other topics at the program looked at “Discipline and Expulsion Best Practices,” “Manifestation Determination Review (MDR) Essentials,” “504 Plan Eligibility:?What Are the Determining Factors?” and more.
