Fundraiser a record-setter

More than 200 people turned out for the annual “Evening at the Movies” fundraiser to support The Resolution Center in Mt. Clemens. Organizers say the recent gathering at the MJR Marketplace Digital Cinema 20 in Sterling Heights raised a record $22,000 to support the center’s restorative justice and peer mediation programs. The event also featured an awards ceremony during which 41B District Court Magistrate Daniel Goulette (left) was honored with the center’s 2018 Conflict Resolution Center Advocacy Award. Goulette is pictured with 41B District Court Judge Carrie Fuca and Craig Pappas, executive director of The Resolution Center. During the ceremony, Barbara Johannessen was honored with the Lawrence W. Beckett Volunteer of the Year award and James Gillespie was presented with the Laurence Harwood Distinguished Mediator Award.
