The Michigan Association for Justice presented an “Employment/Civil Rights Evening Forum/Mixer” Thursday, Sept. 6, at Lockhart’s BBQ in Royal Oak. The MAJ members-only event featured wine, food, and discussion on how to obtain substantial verdicts despite minimal wage loss damages. Speaking at the event were Megan Bonanni (center), of Pitt, McGehee, Palmer, & Rivers, who discussed her recent whistleblower case against the Jackson Public Schools, which resulted in a $388,000 award; and Carol Laughbaum (right), of Sterling Attorneys at Law, who discussed her recent $16.8 million federal court jury verdict in an ethnicity discrimination case in which the employer argued plaintiff had no damages (Khalaf v Ford Motor Company et al, Case No. 15-12604). Moderating the discussion was Jennifer McManus (left) of Fagan McManus PC.
