The Ella Sharp Museum held a ribbon cutting for the Peter F. Hurst Planetarium on Jan. 17 to celebrate the 50th anniversary and recent updates. In 2018, the Hurst Foundation awarded the museum a grant of $60,000 to support the expansion of the planetarium, resulting in new seating and physical plant upgrades that have helped broadened astronomy events and education.
