The Levin Center at Wayne State University Law School has sent six law students to serve as legal interns in congressional committee offices in Washington, D.C. this summer.
Internships were awarded to:
• Cesilie Cordovilla of Ann Arbor – Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs (Sen. Gary Peters, D-MI)
• Anna Kozak of Belleville – House Committee on Energy and Commerce (Rep. Greg Walden, R-OR)
• Ramzi Masri-Elyafaoui of Farmington Hills – Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (Sen. Thomas Carper, D-DE)
• Daina Robinson of Bloomfield – House Oversight and Government Reform (Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-MD)
• Max Shuart of Northville – House Committee on Ways and Means (Rep. Kevin Brady, R-TX)
• Ben VanSlyke of Burton – House Committee on Energy and Commerce (Rep. Frank Pallone, D-NJ)
Each position involves work with congressional staff from both parties and a bipartisan approach to oversight. Students are working under the supervision of an experienced attorney who is engaged in conducting oversight on behalf of a congressional committee.
This is the fourth year for the 10-week internships. Interns are supported by Levin Center staff during their time in Washington.
Launched in March 2015, the Levin Center at Wayne Law educates future attorneys, business leaders, legislators and public servants on their role overseeing public and private institutions and using oversight as an instrument of change.
The center is named in honor of former U.S. Sen. Carl Levin.
