The County of Muskegon is hosting five community workshops throughout the County in order to receive community input for an updated five year recreation plan. Per the Michigan
Department of Natural Resources, the intent of a recreation plan is to create an inventory of existing facilities and resources, identify community recreation and open space needs and set a plan of action for a 5-year period. The updated recreation plan will replace the existing five year plan that expires at the end of 2019. It will have a focus on County of Muskegon owned parks and recreation offerings, but will also encompass countywide recreation offerings as well as a countywide recreational inventory.
The remaining community workshops are as follows:
Tuesday, July 16th
5:00-6:15 p.m.
Muskegon Area Transit System, 2624 6th St., Muskegon Heights.
Wednesday, July 17th
3:30-4:45 p.m.
Hackley Public Library, 316 W Webster Ave., Muskegon 49440
Thursday, July 18th
3:30-4:45 p.m.
Egelston Township Hall, 5428 E Apple Ave., Muskegon 49442
Following the workshops, the plan will be drafted, and posted to the County of Muskegon website. A public hearing will be held after it is posted for review and comment, and prior to it being voted on and adopted by the County of Muskegon Board of Commissioners. The plan will take effect once adopted, and will last thru 2024.
