Tom Sinas elected to State Bar of Michigan Board of Commissioners
Tom Sinas of the Sinas Dramis Law Firm recently has been elected to the State Bar of Michigan (SBM) Board of Commissioners. Sinas won a contested seat and will co-commission District C alongside attorney E. Thomas McCarthy Jr. of Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge until 2022.
As of 2019, there are more than 45,000 active members in the SBM. Its mission is to improve relations between legal professionals within the field and the public.
SBM aims to promote the advancement of legal philosophy by administering information to the “every day” person who does not have legal knowledge.
The incoming Board of Commissioners takes on the responsibility of relaying this information. In addition, Sinas’s duties as a member of the Board of
Commissioners include strategic planning, budgeting and spending, public policy regulations and relations, and member services. District C includes Oceana, Muskegon, Ottawa, Newaygo, Kent, Osceola, Mecosta, Clare, Isabella, and Gladwin. District C is the only district that is commissioned by two attorneys.
Sinas has a long history of leadership. He graduated from the University of Minnesota magna cum laude, then practiced at a national law firm in Minneapolis before returning home to Michigan in 2013. He opened the Sinas Dramis Grand Rapids office. He is dedicated to the West Michigan community, and has served as a committee member at the Justice Foundation of West Michigan, a past president of the Legal Assistance Center, and a former trustee of the Grand Rapids Bar Association. Sinas will continue to dedicate time serving on the Board of Directors at the Brain Injury Association of Michigan, and as Associate General Counsel for the Coalition Protecting Auto No-Fault.
