Family and friends of Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Cylenthia LaToye Miller (right) hosted an “Elevation Celebration” on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at TV Lounge in Detroit. Helping to celebrate Miller’s appointment by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to the Wayne County Circuit Court, Juvenile Division, was her mother attorney Sharon Elaine Bernard (left). Miller previously was a judge with the Wayne County 36th District Court. She is also the founding and presiding judge over Street Outreach Court Detroit, a specialty court program that provides homeless citizens the opportunity to resolve certain civil infractions and misdemeanors. Before getting seated on the bench, she served as the director of the Detroit Workforce Development Department, and as an associate attorney with Lewis & Munday PC and Dykema law firm in Detroit. Miller earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Wayne State University and her law degree from Michigan State University College of Law.
