Bodman PLC recently hosted the monthly meeting of the African-American Partners’ Collaborative at its Detroit office at Ford Field. The meeting featured a panel discussion on diversity in the legal profession and in legal education, and included the deans of all five of Michigan’s law schools and members of their senior staffs. Pictured (left to right) are program participants: Honigman Partner Khalilah Spencer, who served as moderator; Miller Canfield Senior Counsel Saul Green; Western Michigan University Cooley Law School Dean James McGrath; University of Michigan Law School Dean Mark West; Wayne State University Law School Dean Richard Bierschbach; Michigan State University College of Law Dean Lawrence Ponoroff; and Bodman Partner and Diversity and Inclusion Committee Co-Chair Damali Sahu. Also participating but not pictured was University of Detroit Mercy School of Law Dean Phyllis Crocker. The African-American Partners’ Collaborative is an organization comprised of partners, principals, members and other senior attorneys at large Detroit-area law firms that seek to increase the number of African-American attorneys at firms, as well as improve opportunities for them to succeed professionally and participate in firm management.
