Students at Agnes E. Beer Middle School in warren recently attended a special court session at their school with 37th District Court Matthew Sabaugh presiding. The court received approval from the State Court Administrator’s Office to hear cases off-site and Sabaugh began holding court in schools as part of his mission to create public awareness of the court system. “The students have many questions and they are getting an eye-opening experience about our legal system,” he said. The docket included several criminal cases scheduled for sentencing. “Middle school students are already facing peer pressure to abuse drugs and alcohol,” he said. “It’s never too early to educate students about the dangers of violence and drug and alcohol abuse.”
