Captain Bob Vogt from the Jackson County Office of the Sheriff was the guest speaker at the Oct. 15 meeting of NALS of Jackson County. Vogt, who has been with the Sheriff Office for almost 30 years, is the Jail Administrator for the Chanter Facility and downtown jail. Vogt said the jails are 85-90% full most of the time, with an average of 250 people in jails each day. Jackson County is following a national trend of more women being incarcerated. Vogt often sees second and third generations in jail at the same time.
