The 47th annual Noel Night will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7, in Detroit’s Midtown District. Admission is free.
Venues north of Warren Avenue will be open from 1 to 7 p.m. and venues south of Warren Avenue will be open 5 to 10 p.m. Over 110 institutions, including the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Michigan Science Center, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the Detroit Historical Museum, the Detroit Public Library, and the local small business community will open their doors to the public free of charge during this Cultural Center-wide holiday open house.
Activities include Living Animals of the Nativity, holiday shopping, family craft activities, make-and-take crafts, and performances by over 100 area music, theatre, and dance groups. Noel Night headlining performers include: St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Ural Thomas the Pain, Ranky Tanky, Etienne Charles Creole Christmas, Nessa, Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings, Audrey Northington, Cranbrook Art Lab, MSU Jazz in the City featuring Kenny Washington, and Thornetta Davis.
New this year, the annual community sing-along led by the Salvation Army will be held on Wayne State University’s campus at the northwest corner of Canfield and Cass (lot 71). Woodward Avenue will remain open to traffic. Noel Night activities take place in Midtown Detroit, and free shuttle service is offered between participating venues between 5 to 10 p.m. Parking is available in area lots and decks.
Noel Night is produced by Midtown Detroit Inc., a nonprofit community development organization that supports economic growth in Detroit's Midtown district.
