Students join forces to help those in need

More than 100 local families in the Auburn Hills Community had holiday meals provided by students from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School’s Auburn Hills. The law school teamed up with Avondale High School to help feed those who otherwise would not have been able to have a family meal to celebrate the holidays. As part of the law school’s “Making Meals Happen” program, students collect potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, cornbread mix and gift cards for turkeys. In its 11th year, WMU-Cooley students have delivered over 1,800 meals to those in need in the Oakland County community. “As a law school, it is important to give back to our local community,” said Professor Martha Moore, who has been involved with the Making Meals Happen program for 11 years. “It has been an honor to work with our students and community to gather the donations to provide a holiday meals for local families in need.” Pictured are WMU-Cooley Auburn Hills campus students who boxed collected items for distribution.
