The Hon. Kirk Tabbey from 14A-2 District Court in Ypsilanti was recently honored with an award and Certificate of Appreciation from the Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team of the U.S. Marshals Service, Eastern District of Michigan, in recognition of his continued support and valued partnership.
A graduate of Michigan State University and Wayne Law School, and a graduate from the FBI National Law Institute at the FBI National Academy, Judge Tabbey has provided years of association and 24/7 assistance to the Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team, providing immediate electronic review and issuance of Federal Search Warrants, ECPA telecommunications Orders and Subpoenas.
Deputy Marshals have told Judge Tabbey that efficient swift turnaround and availability significantly increases their safety and that of their fugitives and nearby persons.
He also provides this assistance to all local law enforcement and specialized teams including the Sheriffs Community Action Team and Michigan State Police LAWNET, Tobacco Enforcement and Diversion (opioid undercover operations) Units.
“I told them I don’t deserve this recognition since I am just doing my job as best as I know how,” Judge Tabbey said.
“It is my privilege and honor to be able to support the constitutional protections and help them do their jobs legally and effectively.”
Judge Tabbey also contributed to the production the Anthon Gignac episode of CNBC's “American Greed” series, that aired at 10 p.m. on January 6.
