• Detroit Bar Association 2020 Inn of Court
January 27

The Inn of Court 2020 season will start with a special kickoff program on January 27 that will take place at Judge Kirsten Frank Kelly’s home. The remaining meetings will be held February 24, March 23, April 27 and May 18. The regular monthly meetings begin with a soft start social period at 5:30 p.m., followed by the program at 6 p.m. which will last no more than 90 minutes. The season ends with a party in June. Cost to attend a meeting is $25 for law clerks, $50 for Associate/Barrister, $75 for Master, and judges attend at no cost.

• Hon. Marci B. McIvor Retirement and Access to Bankruptcy Court Event
January 30

An evening to honor the Hon. Marci B. McIvor on her retirement from the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan will be held from 5-8 p.m. at Rattlesnake Club, 300 River Place Dr. in Detroit. • Detroit Mercy Law: ‘Bending the Arc Toward Justice’
January 30

Detroit Mercy Law ushers in Black History Month with a special evening reception from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, January 30, acknowledging and celebrating the school’s history, present and future. The event at Detroit Mercy Law’s atrium, 651 E. Jefferson. Ave. in Detroit includes: A portrait unveiling of Henry H. Tarrant, the school’s first known African American graduate; the launch of the new Henry H. Tarrant Award for Black Student Excellence; remarks by Godfrey Dillard, a civil rights trailblazer; and an introduction of the Association of Black Law Alumni (ABLA), led by Wayne County Probate Court Judge Terrance A. • Business Boot Camp I — Basic Training for Every Business Lawyer
January 30-31

Join the State Bar of Michigan Business Law Section for “Business Boot Camp I: Basic Training for Every Business Lawyer.” It will be held from 8:30 a.m. Thursday, January 30 through 4 p.m. Friday, January 31 at The Inn at St. John’s Galilee Room, 44045 Five Mile Rd. in Plymouth. Directors of training are Jeffrey S. Ammon, Miller Johnson, Grand Rapids; Timothy R. Dam­schroder, Bodman PLC, Ann Arbor; and Daniel H. Minkus, Clark Hill PLC, Birmingham.
