The Insurance and Indemnity Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan presented “Indemnification: Scope, Breadth, and Application” on Thursday, Jan. 16, at the Birmingham Athletic Club in Bloomfield Hills. The presentation addressed the extent of indemnity available to a party (such as the limitations of MCL 691.991), whether indemnity applies only to third party claims, and the characteristics of common law/implied indemnification compared with contractual indemnity. Speaking at the program was John M. Sier (pictured), senior partner with Kitch, Drutchas, Wagner, Valitutti, & Sherbrook and head of the firm’s commercial litigation practice.
