Zach Zurek is an associate attorney with the Ann Arbor office of Garan, Lucow, Miller, P.C. His practice focuses on all aspects of insurance defense, with particular focus on insurance fraud, construction disputes, general negligence, and first-party No-Fault cases.
The Howell resident received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.
What is your proudest moment as a lawyer? My first no-cause verdict.
What was always written on your grade school report card? “Please call us to discuss further.”
What is your happiest childhood memory? My first powder skiing day.
What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received? “Nice tie.”
When you were considering law school, what was Plan B? A Ph.D. in philosophy.
What would surprise people about your job? How specialized most law practices are.
What do you wish someone would invent? A fully sustainable energy grid.
When you look back into the past, what do you miss most? Abdominal muscles.
What is your most treasured material possession? My 5-weight fly rod.
If you could have witnessed any event in history, what would it be? The Lewis & Clark expedition.
What were you doing in your last selfie? Attending a wedding with my wife.
What is the best advice you ever received? Listen more and talk less.
What’s the one question you like to be asked? “Will that complete your order?”
What question do you most often ask yourself? “What am I grateful for today?”
If you could trade places with someone for a day, who would that be? My four-year-old son. I’d love to see the world through his eyes.
What’s the most awe-inspiring place you’ve ever been? British Columbia.
What’s something you changed your mind about recently? Eating less meat.
What is one thing you would like to learn to do? Weld.
What is something most people don't know about you? I was thin once.
