Secrest Wardle announces 2020 promotions
On behalf of the firm, the Secrest Wardle Executive Committee is pleased to announce several promotions, including one of the attorneys in the Grand Rapids office.
The promotions were effective January 1.
Justin L. Cole from Grand Rapids was one of three attorneys named an Executive Partner. The other two, both from the Troy office were Matthew J. Consolo and Daniel T. Rizzo. (Secrest Wardle also has a Lansing office.)
Promotions to partner were given to D. Kyle Bierlein, Rebecca McLaughlin Haines, Lindsay D. Schmidt, and Lauren A. Sterrett, all from the Troy office.
Reams joins Miller Johnson M&A practice group
Hunter Reams has joined Miller Johnson as an Associate in the Grand Rapids office. He is in the business section and is continuing his M&A and Taxation practice.
Reams has worked with clients ranging from tech start-ups to established private equity groups. His experience includes performing due diligence on both target companies and on sell-side clients ranging from start-ups to companies with hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue. In the course of working on matters, he regularly reviews and analyzes shareholder agreements, employment and customer contracts, tax returns, organizational documents and other tax, financial and legal documents.
Prior to joining Miller Johnson, Reams practiced as a Senior M&A Tax Associate at BDO USA, LLP, in the Washington D.C. Metro area and as an International Tax Consultant with Deloitte in the Metro Detroit area.
During law school, he worked as a law clerk with firms in Columbia, and Charleston, South Carolina, and Cleveland, Ohio.
Reams earned his J.D. in 2017 from South Carolina School of Law. While in law school, he did a Securities Regulation and Enforcement Externship with the South Carolina Attorney General’s office. He earned his B.S. from Central Michigan University in 2014. Reams also attended Rochester College on a baseball scholarship. He is licensed to practice in Michigan.
