Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer served coney dogs to Michiganders on Thursday at Lafayette Coney Island. Not only did the governor get first-hand experience on the line, she also learned how the restaurant was taking precautions to protect their workers and customers from the spread of COVID-19. A few weeks ago, Whitmer announced that the entire state was ready to move to phase 4 of the governor’s MI Safe Start Plan. Under Executive Order 2020-91 businesses are required to adhere to strict safety guidelines to protect workers, patrons and their communities from infection.
