The Rev. Wendell and Lady Monica Anthony of Fellowship Chapel in Detroit have made Thanksgiving turkey dinner giveaways a tradition for the last 30 years, providing more than 100,000 holiday meals to area residents.
For the second straight year, the Southfield based law firm of Goodman Acker, P.C. will assist with the Thanksgiving turkey giveaway as many local residents remain in need of a helping hand.
This year, Fellowship Chapel has collaborated with Goodman Acker to purchase and donate several hundred turkeys that will be given away on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at the church located at 7707 W. Outer Drive in Detroit.
In addition to a fresh and plump turkey, the meal also will include green beans, macaroni and cheese, cranberry sauce and rolls.
“We are honored to partner with Fellowship Chapel on this important project,” said Jerry Acker, partner at Goodman Acker. “Making sure families can celebrate Thanksgiving is a wonderful mission that Reverend Wendell and Lady Anthony have been performing for the last 30 years. I’m honored that Goodman Acker can do our part to help grow this mission.”
The process is simple.
City of Detroit residents will be required to register and submit a form on www.jewjcc.org. Applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until they reach capacity and one application per
household will be accepted.
A driver’s license will be required to pick up meals.
Completed applications can be dropped off in person at Fellowship Chapel or can be e-mailed at: jewjcc@comcast.net.
More information and details will be on the www.jewjcc.org website.
Lady Monica Anthony, director of JEWJCC, the community outreach arm of Fellowship Chapel, said: “It’s a blessing to be able to bless those in need, but the real joy comes in providing programs throughout the year in an attempt to decrease the need. We appreciate Goodman Acker for the much-needed support."
