State reports nearly 6,300 daily virus cases, 145 deaths

LANSING (AP) — Nearly 6,300 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported in Michigan.

The state Department of Health and Human Services reported 6,290 daily cases and 145 deaths Tuesday due to the virus. Fifty-one of those deaths were added following a review of vital records.

Michigan has more than 320,500 confirmed virus cases and 8,688 deaths due to COVID-19 since the start of the coronavirus pandemic earlier this year.

State Rep. Kyra Harris Bolden Tweeted Tuesday that she has received a positive COVID-19 test.

“On Nov. 12, I was notified that I had been exposed to COVID-19 while working with colleagues, and have been in quarantine since receiving the call, save for leaving home to be tested for the virus,” wrote Bolden, a Democrat who represents Lathrup Village and parts of Southfield in suburban Detroit.

At least eight lawmakers have tested positive this year while a ninth died from a suspected case.
