Macomb County Health Department relocates COVID-19 drive-through test site, prepares for new vaccine

The Macomb County Health Department has relocated its COVID-19 drive-through testing site to the former location of Baker College located at 34401 S. Gratiot Ave. in Clinton Twp.
Prior to the relocation, COVID-19 testing was offered in the parking lot of the former Macomb County Juvenile Court Building located at 380 Rose St. in Mount Clemens. That site has administered as many as 750 tests in a day and averaged about 500 per day.
Testing will continue to be offered Monday through Friday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
No appointment is necessary and individuals without symptoms of COVID-19 can be tested.
There is no cost for testing, and a prescription is not required. As part of the testing process, people must remain in their vehicles from the time they arrive until they depart, and a face mask must be worn.
“Not only is our new drive-through testing location centrally located, it also provides relief from the winter weather for our staff and those that come to be tested," said William Ridella, director/health officer of the Macomb County Health Department. “This allows us to be able to offer the safety and convenience of drive-through testing, as well as the benefits of better shelter and temperature control.”
In addition to being prepared for winter weather at its new testing site, Macomb County is also prepared for the forthcoming COVID-19 vaccine.
As federal agencies and local health departments develop phasing criteria and logistics, the county is ready to support the distribution of these immunizations to St. Clair County and other neighboring jurisdictions.
