County unveils $4.1M in grants available for businesses impacted by recent COVID-19 orders

Macomb County has announced it has received $4.1 million from the State of Michigan and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation through the Michigan Small Business Survival Grant Program to assist businesses that have experienced significant financial hardship due to the COVID-19 emergency orders issued by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

The application period for grant funding will run from 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19 through noon on Friday, Jan. 22.

“Businesses across our community continue to face unimaginable challenges," said County Executive Mark A. Hackel.

The county will give priority to brick and mortar businesses in the following industries: Restaurants, bars, banquet facilities, gyms, entertainment venues and recreational facilities.

While the state is allowing applications for funding up to $15,000 or $20,000, the county will determine the final amounts to distribute based on the number of applicants and demonstrated need.

Interested individuals can learn more and apply at michiganbusiness.org/survival.

All applications received during the application period will be reviewed and considered; grants are not being awarded on a first come, first serve basis. Businesses with questions about the application can contact the MEDC Service Center at (888).522.0103 (select menu option 1).
