Climate Change Discussion, 'Electrifying Our Future,' set for February 25

West Michigan Environmental Action Council and the Michigan Chapter of the Sierra Club will host the second Community Conversations on Climate Change - how it is affecting Muskegon County, and what can be done at the local level to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prepare for future impacts.

The virtual discussion “Electrifying Our Future,” set for Thursday, February 25, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., will be moderated by John Kinch, Ph.D., executive director of Michigan Energy Options.

Panelists include: Mike Wall, executive director of Automotive Analysis at IHS Markit; Jeff Myrom, director of Renewable Energy & Electric Vehicle Customer Products for Consumers Energy, and Christina Britton, senior sustainability analyst at Meijer.

The panel will cover basic electric vehicle (EV), battery, and charging station technology, contributions to greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector, affordability and benefits of EVs, incentives, and opportunities for job creation in the Muskegon area and West Michigan.
