‘Muskegon Summer Wine Up’ slated for Saturday, June 12
The second annual Muskegon Summer Wine Up will take place 2 to 8 p.m., Saturday, June 12, at Hackley Park, 350 W Webster Ave, in downtown Muskegon.
The wine festival, the unofficial start to summer, debuted in 2019 at Hackley Park with 10 different wineries. The event was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic.
This year’s event will feature 20 wineries and more than 100 wines, according to Rich Berry from event organizer Cumulus Media – Muskegon.
“We really wanted to make the Muskegon Summer Wine Up happen in 2021,” said Berry, director of sales at radio stations 98.3 WLCS, V-100 WVIB, Sunny 92.5 WWSN, and NASH 92.5 WLAW. “We wanted to produce a wonderful event that everyone can enjoy. We are confident we can pull off a safe, and fun event.”
Sponsors include Little River Casino, Audi Muskegon, Pure Medical Spa, Eagle Alloy, and Catchmark Technologies.
Participating wineries include:
St Julian Winery; Chateau Grand Traverse; Lemon Creek Winery; Leelanau Winery; Robert Mondavi Winery – Private Selection; Bonterra Winery; Freixenet Sparkling Wines; Kendall Jackson Winery; La Crema Winery; Parducci Winery; Palm Bay Imports – Cavit; Avalon Winery; Rodney Strong Winery; Francis Coppola Winery; Josh Cellars Winery; Benziger Winery; Forbidden Fruit Cider; Santero Winery; Babich Winery; and Riunite Wines.
In addition to wine tasting, there will be wine related seminars, musical entertainment, and much more.
The $15 admission fee includes four wine tasting tickets and a souvenir glass to the first 1,000 patrons.
“We think this is going to be great kickoff to summer,” said Berry. “It’s going to be a great time for everyone.”
The event is also looking for volunteers.

Youth Make & Take: Private Detective Kit
It’s Mystery Month so let’s get to solving a mystery. Come and pick up your private detective kit from Hackley Public Library, including an invisible ink pen, and get started.
Craft kits will be available to pick up from Hackley Library beginning May 3 and through the end of month while supplies last.
A free instructional video will be posted on Facebook at 3 p.m., May 3 and May 17.

After Dark Tours at historic site set for May 7

‘Mad Science: Fire & Ice’ slated for May 11
The Muskegon Area District Library invites you to join Mad Science for a spectacular show that will thrill audiences with impressive science experiments including foggy dry ice storms and a demonstration on how giant beach balls can float in the air.
Students will be amazed and entertained. Perfect for classrooms to join.
The event is set 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 11. Registration required on the madl.org calendar. A Zoom link will be emailed before the program.
