The Association of Corporate Counsel-Michigan Chapter (ACC-MI) will present a complimentary webinar on “Challenges Created by Remote Work and the Wandering Worker” sponsored by Littler on Thursday, June 17, from 9 to 10 a.m.
As the one-year mark of the pandemic passes, employees teleworking has created a whole host of new compliance issues for employers to address including those relating to the wandering worker who seems to be in a new state every week.
Webinar attendees will learn:
• The importance of a telework policy and agreement.
• Top FLSA compliance issues including:
– Whether remote workers such as "outside salespeople" still qualify as exempt.
– Reasonable reporting procedure for recording actual hours worked.
• Implications of employees "wandering" to work in other states or countries:
– Whether insurance and payroll taxes in that new state are required.
– What wage and hour or other state laws may apply.
– Will travel back to the office have to be paid by the employer.
– What expense reimbursement is required.
Speaking at the program will be Littler attorneys Gary C. Ankers, Jaclyn R. Giffen, and Anton A. Dirnberger.
