SBM section plans mid-summer meeting

The Family Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan will conduct its “Family Law: Mid-Summer Conference at Crystal Mountain Resort” in Thompsonville, MI, Thursday through Sunday, July 29-August 1.

The conference will feature presentations by top-notch family law practitioners providing state-of-the-law education and tips on family law issues. In addition, the conference provides valuable opportunities to network with colleagues.

Things to do will include:

• Alpine Slide is open and the section will have a dedicated time for the group courtesy of the Special Event Sponsors.

• Tour a local distillery—first come, first served (with tasting/purchase available) again, thanks to the Special Event Sponsors.

• A new opportunity is the “Zoom Hearing Story Contest” with prizes. Entries must be in writing, the person submitting them must have actually seen/participated in the hearing, not just seen it on YouTube or Facebook, or heard about it from a colleague. Entries will be accepted starting at the Welcome Room on Thursday and continuing through the Reception on Friday. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded on Saturday at the seminar.

All COVID protocols (including social distancing and PPE) still recommended in late July will be followed at this event.

The conference fee includes welcome room, conference, breakfasts, cocktail networking reception, special and/or family events, and written materials. Cost for Family Law Section members—$175; Family Division judges—free; all other registrants—$195.
