There will be a sense of delayed gratification when members of the Michigan Association for Justice gather for the organization’s 76th Annual Banquet on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 18 in Detroit.
Normally, the event takes place in mid-May at the time when the new MAJ officers for the coming year are sworn in to office. But, the lingering effects of the pandemic pushed back the scheduled proceedings until the fall for the health and safety of everyone involved, according to organizers of the Annual Banquet.
And yet, the wait figures to be worth it, as Ford Field will serve as the venue of the event, which is scheduled to run from 5:30-11 p.m.
Tickets cost $275, a price that includes a cocktail reception, dinner and an afterglow party hosted by the New Lawyers Division featuring live music by Still Rain.
A table sponsorship costs $3,000, which includes 10 tickets, a rotating sponsor ad on screen, two bottles of table wine and special table placement.
Among those to be honored at the event will be MAJ President Ron Weiner, Immediate Past President Donna MacKenzie, President-elect Stuart Sklar, Vice President Jennifer McManus, Secretary Eric Steinberg, and Treasurer Nicholas Andrews.
Also in the spotlight that night will be MAJ Past President Scott Goodwin, the recipient of the 2021 Champion of Justice Award. Judge Amy Ronayne Krause of the Michigan Court of Appeals will be presented with the Judicial Excellence Award for 2021 while Troy attorney Morrison Zack will receive the MAJ Special Service Award. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel will be honored with the MAJ Women’s Caucus Award of Excellence for 2021.
