Annual ACC-MI Golf Outing is planned for Sept. 28

The Association of Corporate Counsel, Michigan Chapter, will host its 24th Annual ACC Michigan Golf Outing on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Fox Hills Golf & Banquet Center, 8768 North Territorial Road in Plymouth.

Participation in the outing supports ACC-MI’s scholarship program for some of Michigan’s best and brightest future in-house counsel.  The event offers a relaxing day of golf, re-connecting, and forming new relationships.

The outing features:

9:30 - 10:45 a.m.—Registration & Warm Up

11 a.m. - 4 p.m.—Shotgun Start for 18 Holes

4 - 4:45 p.m.—Reception

4:45 p.m.—ACC Michigan Annual Meeting, Dinner, & Prizes

Literary Ladies Book Club meeting on Sept. 30

The Women Lawyers Association of Michigan will present its next Literary Ladies Book Club online Thursday, Sept. 30, beginning at 6 p.m. via Zoom.

For the September meeting, the club will be discussing “A Long Petal of the Sea” by Isabel Allende.

Two State Bar sections will  look at ‘I-9s and E-Verify’ online via Zoom on Sept. 30

The Labor & Employment Law Section in collaboration with the Immigration Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan will present “Labor Law: Lunch & Learn – Best Practices for Managing I-9s and E-Verify in a Time of COVID-19” online Thursday, Sept. 30, from noon to 1:30 p.m. via Zoom

Due to COVID-19, temporary I-9 completion policies were implemented. Employers need to understand proper completion, management and maintenance of obligatory I-9 forms, and make sure their I-9 compliance programs are sound.

This two-part presentation regarding the intersection of labor/employment and immigration law issues will be presented by Ahndia Mansoori, senior associate attorney at Kitch and board member of the Immigration Law Section.

Mansoori, with Kitch’s Detroit office, focuses her practice on immigration and customs law. She received her law degree from University of Detroit Mercy School of Law School and earned her B.A. in political science with a minor in organizational leadership from Purdue University. Mansoori has had several internships including the International News Desk at C-SPAN, Michigan Immigrant Rights Center, and served as a law clerk at the Kitch Law Firm.

Mansoori is licensed to practice in Michigan and is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, American Immigration Lawyers Association, Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, and the Michigan Council of the Society for Human Resource Management.
