Michigan Association for Justice hosts annual No-Fault Institute Seminar
On October 7-8, the Michigan Association for Justice (MAJ) is hosting “No-Fault Institute XVIII — Confronting the Confusion: The New Law Now” at Four Points by Sheraton in Novi, Michigan.
“We look forward to hosting the No-Fault Institute every year, and with the recent changes to No-Fault legislation, this year is set to be especially informational,” said Steve Pontoni, MAJ executive director. “We hope to see a great showing for both days of the seminar with MAJ members and non-members in attendance.”
Speakers at the two-day seminar will deliver information on a variety of pertinent topics, with the first day focusing on Personal Injury Protection (PIP) cases and the second day focusing on negligence. Moderators for the seminar are Wayne Miller, Miller & Tischler, P.C., and Thomas Sinas, Sinas Dramis Law Firm.
The seminar is available both virtually and in person and is open to MAJ members and non-members. Cost for MAJ members is $520; MAJ members with three years or less of practice pay $340; MAJ sustaining members pay $300; MAJ paralegal and student members pay $315. The cost of the two-day event for non-members is $790. Judges have complimentary access to the event.
COVID vaccines are required to attend the 2021 No-Fault Institute. Masks are recommended, but are not required.

Larry Nassar survivor Trinea Gonczar to speak on documentary
Larry Nassar abuse survivor Trinea Gonczar will join Judge Rosemarie Aquilina and attorney Mick Grewal during WMU-Cooley’s fall kick-off Community Conversation panel discussion “At the Heart of Gold” on Thursday, Sept. 30. The discussion will reflect on the recently released documentary “At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal.”
The documentary reveals the dangerous system that prioritized winning over everything else, including protecting young female athletes. Gonczar will share her experiences as a survivor. Aquilina, who sentenced Nassar; and Grewal, who represented 139 of the 543 survivors against USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic Committee, will speak about their roles in highly publicized scandal. The panelists will answer questions from those attending the virtual event.
