Douglas Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, will welcome 16 individuals as new U.S. citizens at tonight’s Detroit Pistons game against the San Antonio Spurs.
U.S. District Judge David Lawson of the Eastern District of Michigan will provide opening remarks during the halftime citizenship ceremony at Little Caesars Arena.
Chief U.S. District Judge Denise Page Hood will administer the Oath of Allegiance.
The 16 new citizens come from Algeria, Australia, Canada, Bangladesh, France, Lebanon, Mali, Mexico, Philippine and Vietnam.
The event is being organized by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.
