‘Celebrating the Day of the Dead’
Experience the celebration of Día de los Muertos at this drop-in Hackley Library program!
Learn about this Mexican-American holiday with activities, take home craft kits, and a storybook read.
In partnership with ‘Latinos Working for the Future,’ there will also be a Día de los Muertos Dress Contest with prizes awarded to the winners.
The event is set 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 2.

Tiff Massey ‘Jewelry Box’
This exhibit will open Nov. 11 with an opening reception 5 to 6 p.m., and an artist talk at 7 p.m. It runs to February 20, 2022.
Multimedia artist and metalsmith Tiff Massey makes art and jewelry inspired by 1980s hip-hop fashion and her experiences living in Detroit. Drawing from her “Everyday Arsenal” series, the artist transforms the MMA’s Olthoff Gallery into a flashy display of massive hip-hop jewelry, gold, and mirrors in a dynamic exploration of self-identity and fashion. Massey is a two time winner of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation’s Knight Arts Challenge and a 2015 Kresge Arts in Detroit Fellowship recipient.

Contemporary Art Exhibition Ends November 10
The 92nd Michigan Contemporary Art Exhibition, running through November 10, showcases the work of Michigan artists, and the issues, themes, and materials inspiring them. Michigan residents ages 18 and over were eligible to submit artwork entries.
The exhibition is underwritten by the law firm of Warner Norcross + Judd, LLP.
