Jim W. Scales joins Foster Swift
Jim W. Scales has joined Foster Swift’s Grand Rapids office.
He is a graduate of University of Notre Dame Law School and his experience includes appeals briefs, wrongful death, contract breaches, personal injury, probate estates, employment matters and religious liberty & religious organizations.
Scales is one of three former summer associates to join Foster Swift; all three participated remotely in the summer of 2020; and all three are now in the litigation practice group.
Mariah M. Silverstein has joined Foster Swift’s Lansing office, as a member of the litigation practice group. She received both her undergrad and law degree from the University of Michigan and her experience includes conducting legal research and drafting motions for criminal and civil cases in both state and federal court.
Anthony M. Dalimonte, an alum of Wayne State University Law School, practices from the Southfield office where his experience includes conducting legal research and drafting memos, briefs, and dispositive motions on matters concerning general and commercial litigation.
All three were sworn in at the Michigan Supreme Court in Lansing on Nov. 16.
Warner invites students to apply for scholarships
Warner Norcross + Judd LLP is accepting applications for the Diversity Law Scholarship Program.
The program provides students of color with financial assistance. The firm awards $5,000 to a law school student and $2,000 to a paralegal student or $1,000 to a legal secretarial student. Applications are due March 1. Grand Rapids Community Foundation administers and awards the scholarships.
Applicants must be accepted to or attending a Michigan law school, be a Michigan resident attending an accredited law school in the U.S. or be a Michigan resident majoring in paralegal or legal secretarial studies in an accredited program.
