Judicial appointment seminar scheduled
The Association of Black Judges of Michigan, the Wolverine Bar Association, D. Augustus Bar Association, and the Black Women Lawyers Association will present a ‘Judicial Appointment Seminar’ on Sunday, January 30 via Zoom.
During the event, scheduled from 3 to 4:30 p.m., attorneys interested in judicial appointments will learn how to properly prepare with strategies, tips and insight from those that have been appointed.

Lawyer well-being focus of program
American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education will present the webcast “Enduring the Endemic: Visualizing Lawyer Well-Being with a New Lens” on Thursday, Feb. 3, from noon to 1 p.m.
Topics of discussion will include:
• Examining the fully remote, hybrid, and fully in-person environments and their unique stressors and anxiety triggers
• Managing this ongoing period of stress: Finding new measurements of success, productivity, and tools to alleviate stress
• External efforts that foster internal growth: How doing life and work within the community becomes a life-giving experience
• Tips for working at home or in a hybrid world, including managing people working in different modalities/situations
• Turning off the camera: Understanding the drain of video meetings and finding better tools
Questions submitted during the program will be answered live by the faculty. All registrants will receive a set of downloadable course materials to accompany the program.

Social Security matters discussed at SBM section seminar
The Social Security Section of the State Bar of Michigan will conduct an online “Social Security Seminar” on Friday, Feb. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon. The seminar is a live streaming event through the section’s YouTube Channel.
The format will be a roundtable discussion. Questions are welcomed and can be given at the time of registration or during the seminar. There will be a chatbox next to the livestream that users can use to ask questions. A moderator will screen and read questions so that answers can be provided.
Registration can be completed by sending an email to statebarmichigansocsecsection@gmail.com. A week before the event, a link for the live stream will be sent to attendees.
