Circuit Court judge to run for Supreme Court

Judge Michael Warren has officially announced his campaign for the Michigan Supreme Court. After serving more than 19 years on Oakland County Circuit Court, Judge Warren is seeking the Republican Party’s nomination for one of two slots on the state’s highest court.

In announcing his candidacy, Warren noted that he has “more experience as a trial court judge than the entire Supreme Court combined, plus several years.” He has tried more than 360 jury trials, which amounts to more than 3 years of presiding over jury trials. In contrast, five of the seven current Michigan Supreme Court justices have “absolutely no experience as a trial judge  having taken their first judicial office as a Supreme Court justice,” he indicated.

Over the course of his judicial career, Warren has served as a trial judge with experience in the Business Court, felony docket, family docket, and general civil docket.

Warren has reportedly received endorsements for the Republican nomination by former Chief Justice Stephen Markman, former Chief Justice Robert Young, Justice David Viviano, Congressman Bill Huizenga, Congressman John Moolenaar, as well by many Republican Congressional district chairs.

The International Association of Top Professionals, a New York based international organization, has recognized him as a Judge of the Year and Judge of the Decade, and entered him into its Hall of Fame. He has periodically taught constitutional law at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, and has been recognized with awards by various bar and community organizations.

Warren co-founded Patriot Week (www.Patriot Week.org) with his then 10-year-old daughter, which has been unanimously recognized by the United States Senate for the last three consecutive years, as well as by more than 15 states. He authored “America’s Survival Guide, How to Stop America’s Impending Suicide by Reclaiming Our First Principles and History” (www. AmericasSurvivalGuide.com), and is the host of the “Patriot Lessons: American History & Civics Podcast, the Patriot Lessons TV Show,” and the “Save Our Republic” video series. He also has written several articles regarding constitutional law, as well as played an instrumental role in modifying various court rules and legislation. In his “spare time,” Warren has run six marathons.

“Recent Supreme Court orders and rules have revealed that the Supreme Court desperately needs a seasoned justice who will root decisions in the practical realities of the courtroom, as well as conservative constitutional jurisprudence based on the Constitution and the law as it is written, as opposed to legislating from the bench,” Warren said. “I hope to bring that much needed perspective to the Supreme Court.”
