State Bar president to address RBA meeting
The Rochester Bar Association will host its next meeting on Thursday, Feb. 17, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rochester Mills Beer Co. in Rochester.
State Bar of Michigan President Dana Warnez, of Schoenherr, Cahill, & Warnez PC, will address the RBA.
Prior to her SBM leadership post, Warnez served as a member of the 21st Century Task Force; chair of the Representative Assembly; member of Strategic Planning Committee, Awards Committee, Online Legal Resource and Referral Committee; and chair of local District D Character and Fitness.
She also served at the helm of the Macomb County Bar Association and the Macomb County Bar Foundation.

‘Oversight Riders’ topic of Levin Center Zoom presentation
The Levin Center at Wayne Law will offer an online presentation on Tuesday, Feb. 22 on “Oversight Riders” by Profs. Kevin M. Stack and Michael P. Vandenbergh of Vanderbilt Law School.
Stack and Vandenbergh’s will discuss their paper “Oversight Riders” (Notre Dame Law Review 2022) from noon to 1:15 p.m. via Zoom.
“Oversight Riders” won the 2021 Levin Center Award for Excellence in Oversight Research, an annual award by the Levin Center to promote constructive research into oversight by legislative bodies.
Stack and Vandenbergh offer a thesis on an appropriations mechanism long overlooked as a way to create personal incentives for executive branch officials to comply with congressional information requests.

Law firm invites applications for Diversity Scholarship
As part of its ongoing commitment to promote diversity within the legal profession, Warner Norcross + Judd LLP is now accepting applications for the Diversity Law Scholarship Program.
The Diversity Law Scholarship Program provides students of color with financial assistance to offset the educational costs of earning a law or paralegal degree.
The firm awards $5,000 to a law school student and $2,000 to a paralegal student or $1,000 to a legal secretarial student.
Applications are due March 1.
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be accepted to or attending a Michigan law school, be a Michigan resident attending an accredited law school in the U.S. or be a Michigan resident majoring in paralegal or legal secretarial studies in an accredited program.
