A Black History Month Black Hair Clinic is set for 6 to 7 p.m, on Monday, February 28, in-person at the Hackley Library.
Learn the secrets to beautiful black hair from expert Nietra Hood. During this free in-person Black Hair Care Clinic, Nietra will share helpful tips and guidance on caring for your own hair, as well as for a young person’s hair. Limited seating is available. Multimedia artist and metalsmith Tiff Massey makes art and jewelry inspired by 1980s hip-hop fashion and her experiences living in Detroit.
Drawing from her “Everyday Arsenal” series, Massey transforms the MMA’s Olthoff Gallery into a flashy display of massive hip-hop jewelry, gold, and mirrors in a dynamic exploration of self-identity and fashion.

‘Nothin’ But the Blues’ set March 4
Shayna Steele joins the West Michigan Symphony and conductor Scott Speck in this musical tribute to the legends including Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Ma Rainey, Louis Armstrong, and more.
The event is set 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 4, at the Frauenthal Theater. The WMS has created Safe Nights at the Symphony health policy.
