Lawyers and bar leaders from Ukraine, representatives from humanitarian groups and a national security expert will discuss the growing crisis in Ukraine at a free webinar hosted by the American Bar Association Section of Civil Rights and Social Justice called
“Ukraine’s Refugee Crisis: The Faces of War,” on Thursday, April 7 at 2 p.m. ET.
“The spirit and resilience of the Ukrainian people have been inspiring despite their substantial suffering,” said ABA President Reginald Turner, who will give welcome remarks. “This webinar will help people to remain steadfast in support of the Ukrainian people as they courageously confront resettlement and migration issues.”
Speakers include Craig Redmond, senior vice president of programs at Mercy Corps; Jill Marie Bussey, director of public policy at Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service; Smita Dazzo, senior director, Legal and Asylum at HIAS (formerly Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society); Brian J. Egan, partner in National Security at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, & Flom LLP; Inna Liniova, CEO of Ukrainian Bar Association; Anna Ogrenchuk, president of Ukrainian Bar Association; Magdalena Paszkiewicz, adviser and media contact, Polish Foundation Mum in the City of Kielce; Alesya Pavlynska, counsel at Arzinger Law; and moderator Richard Pena, president and CEO of Law Offices of Richard Pena and vice chair of the Rights of Immigrants Committee within the ABA Section of Civil Rights and Social Justice.
