The City Cleanup Day event is set 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 23, at the Department of Public Works (DPW) Operations Center, 521 Water St., near Downtown Jackson. The free event is open only to City of Jackson residents.
Residents are asked to stay in their vehicles and drive through the drop off zones, entering using the intersection of Water and Morrell streets, and exiting using Franklin Street.
Yard waste, such as grass clippings and brush are accepted, along with general household trash like boxes and furniture.
The following WILL NOT be accepted: Batteries, tires, kitchen garbage, paint, liquid waste, appliances that contain or have contained freon, all hazardous waste, electronics, motor oil.
Staff will check bags to make sure they do not contain prohibited items.
Updates about the cleanup event will be posted on the City’s Facebook page and website.
